ROUTES TO TAVAKLI VILLAGE

Ezine – Tavakli ( Short Route ) 25 km or 40 minutes

Take the road towards Izmir and after about half a mile you will come across the turning on your right for Bozcaada and Gülpinar. Continue along this road past the TECO Garage and you will come to a junction. You should follow the Gülpinar sign ( straight on ) and passing through the villages of Kemalli and Koruktasi. After Koruktasi you will come to a junction with one road to Gülpinar and the other a small sign to Uluköy. Take the road to Uluköy ( Kestanbol ). Drive through the village of Uluköy and continue straight passed the mosque, school and village square continuing out of the village towards Akkeçili village. From here the road takes you through Alemşah village and on towards Tavakli.

Edremit to Tavakli Village – 91 km or approx 2 hours

From Edremit follow the D550 ( E87 ) towards Akcay. Continue along the Izmir Canakkale coast road to Kucukuyu and on past Yesilyurt, Nusratli Koyu and on towards Ayvacik. Stay on the main highway and pass through Sapanca. You will turn off at Bahceli Koyu and follow signs for Arasanli Koyu. From Arsanli Koyu you will head towards Yaylacik Koyu and Koseler, passing through Belen Koyu before finally reaching Tavakli. This road is suitable for 4 wheel drive vehicles or cars but some heavy vehicles may struggle with the narrow roads and potholes. If in doubt follow the main road D550 / E87  towards Ezine and turn off to the left where it is signposted to Bozcaada and Gülpinar ( See Short Route )

ROUTES FROM TAVAKLI VILLAGE

Tavakli to Ezine via the Granite Factory ( Long Route ) 28 km or 48 minutes

Take the top road southeast out of Tavakli where you will see a sign Belen Koyu ( village ). Follow this road straight to Belen village ( 4.1 km ) and head north toward Uluköy with the Granite Factory on your right. After about 4 km you will come to a junction for Kayacik village. Take the left fork and travel towards Yaylacik ( about 4.6 km ). You will pass through some spectacular rocky terrain and come to a T Junction ( approx 5k ). You will see a sign pointing left to Yavaslar Koyu but you will take the right turn to Ezine after approx 1.1 km. You will come to another T Junction where you will take the left hand turn to Ezine. Across the road you will see a sign which says Kaymakanlik Belediye Yolu. This road will take you to Ezine but you can also turn right ( the preferred route ) to the main road junction where you will then turn left into Ezine town. Ezine is about 5km from this point.

Tavakli to Dalyan Village  ( Alexandria Troas ) – 16 km or 22 minutes

Follow the road out of the village and down the hill towards the coast ( approx 3 km ). Turn right and pass the Troas Beach Hotel heading along the coast road for Dalyan. After leaving Tavakli Iskelesi you will find that Dalyan is well signposted and is about 16 km away from Tavakli village.

Tavakli Village to Ezine via the Coast Road – 36 km or 52 minutes

Follow the road out of the village and down the hill towards the coast ( approx 3 km ). Turn right and pass the Troas Beach Hotel heading along the coast road for Dalyan. After leaving Tavakli Iskelesi you will find that Dalyan is well signposted and is about 16 km away from Tavakli village. From Dalyan head towards Geyikli and on towards Gokcebayir, passing through Gokcebayir on towards Ezine. The distance from Dalyan to Ezine is about 20 km or 30 minutes.

Tavakli to Assos ( via Gulpinar and Babakale ) – 62km or 1 hour, 20 minutes

Travel down the hill towards the coast and turn left. Follow the coast road and passing through Kosedere and Babadere and on towards Tuzla where you will see the steam rising from the land by the salt water springs. Continue on towards Gulpinar which is well sign posted. At Gulpinar you can visit the site and museum of Apollo Smintheus. From here take the road on towards Babakale and its magnificent castle and harbour. Having spent some time here you can travel on towards Kocakoy Koyu, passing through Bademli, Balabanli and Korubasi before reaching your final destination at Assos.
